Ringway Primary School Transformation: A New Play Area for SEN Pupils

At Chaotic, we are always looking for ways to make a meaningful impact in our community. When a parent from our Facebook Community group reached out about a fundraising effort for a new play area at Ringway Primary School, we knew it was a cause we had to get behind. As a mother to an autistic son, our CEO Shana knows firsthand how important it is to create inclusive spaces where children with additional needs can thrive, which made this project even more meaningful for us.

The school was working hard to raise funds for a new play area dedicated to their SEN (Special Educational Needs) pupils, and when we heard about the vision, we immediately recognised how important this project was. The playground is more than just a space for play—it’s a place where children can develop social, motor, and sensory skills while having fun in a safe, inclusive environment.

Laying the Foundation for Change

After speaking with the mother and learning more about the school’s fundraising needs, we contributed £2,750 to help lay down new grass and revamp the muddy, worn area that had long been a challenge for the children. The before-and-after pictures truly captured the transformation, but we knew we could do even more to enhance this space.

Going the Extra Mile

The new grass was just the beginning. After seeing the difference it made, we were determined to provide additional equipment that would make this space even more engaging and enjoyable for the children. The school’s new SEN teacher, who has been doing amazing things to develop the SEN provisions at the school, carefully selected a range of equipment. With their input, we contributed £2,000 towards new items such as a climbing frame, sandpit, seesaw, and mud kitchen, along with balance beams, space hoppers, and more. This investment has resulted in a fun, vibrant, and stimulating play area that will be enjoyed by the pupils for years to come.

A Day Full of Fun and Laughter

We wanted to experience the impact firsthand, so we travelled all the way from London to Manchester to join in the fun. On the day we visited, we brought sensory goodie bags for every child and spent time playing with them in the newly transformed playground. It was such a heartwarming experience to see the children’s faces light up as they explored the new equipment, and we had so much fun joining in their laughter and play.

Making a Real Difference

The impact of this new play area is already being felt at Ringway Primary School. It’s not just about having new equipment—it’s about creating a space where children with additional needs can explore, interact, and grow in a supportive, safe environment. We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in this transformation and to see the positive effect it’s having on the children who benefit from it every day.
